Stella Forever has crossed the Bridge her way

Jo,
Stella's mom sent this message to Ann
This is

Stunning Stella's story.

I am here to let you know my sweet girl Stella died last Friday. She had not been feeling well for a few days, she moved outside under her favorite tree, then when that didn't seem private enough, she moved under our small back porch. I called to her, but she ignored me, (Thursday night) and sometime Friday morning, she left for the Bridge and her many good friends who were already there.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I miss her. Our daily lives together were comfy and happy, very routine and when I called her, she came, wagging tail and looking happy. In her short illness, she ignored me completely and concentrated on her end.

As many of you know, I found her at a shelter, telling the tech I wanted a good natured female dog. She told me Stella was good natured when she came in but after living in a cage for 3 months, she just was getting sadder every day (one of those unpopular Black dogs). I took her home with me, and after she got caught up on her running, she was just the best dog I could have imagined.

One of her favorite roles was The Cranky Aunty to all the young pups who came on board (blog or FB). She let them know in no uncertain terms how and when they should be behaving.

She was buried at a friend's farm and I will always miss her.

  2. Oh dear, we are just so saddened by this. We have been friends with Jo for years, although sadly not in close enough touch as of late. We know how much she is going to miss sweet Stella. She was a beautiful dog, in ALL ways.

  7. Kyla (RIP Dec 2014) and Kali are black rescues. It's harder to get them adopted. Sorry about Stella. Get another black rescue to honor her-she would want it that way.

  12. So very sorry for your loss; I know Stella is running free and happy as can be. You gave her the two best days of her life-the first one being when you adopted her and the second one being when you let her go. She would tell you not to be sad and that she'll see you again.
    Hugs,
    Noreen and Hunter

  13. Jo - what a precious little soul you saved (I was a rescued mixed breed senior "black dog" as well). I know how much it hurts right now but she left knowing how loved she was.

  19. OH NO, I didn't see this! I'm "friends" with Jo on FB, but must have missed her post. But I've been so consumed with our own loss of our beloved Josh on Monday, that I've lost track of kind friends - The Rainbow Bridge has been a very busy place. But knowing that our Josh is with new friends like Stella, brings comfort.

Thanks for posting - I'll visit Jo on FB...
