We lost our Ruby August 14. We knew it was coming, but thought it might be later in the year. She had lost weight since June, was depressed over the loss of friend and fellow senior girl Sunny, which we lost exactly 1 month ago today, and had stopped eating last week. No amount of appetite stimulant, syringe feeding, extra attention, stern warnings, begging or crying helped and she grew thinner and lethargic. At 3 in the morning, I woke to her licking my hand, something she has never done, and a sense she was telling me her time was coming. We snuggled for two hours then, and 2 hours later before her vet appointment to help her cross that Bridge to find the safe, warm Summerlands beyond. Thank you for all your good vibes, prayers and hugs thus far. I have to believe we'll be out of these deep, dark woods sometime soon.
